Nursery inspirations

One thing I have noticed through my endless hours of pinterest scrolling through nursery pictures is that I definitely am in love with the Jenny Lind cribs. It took me 6 months to convince Casey that we had to get this crib. He finally just agreed to it. Bless his heart!

Another staple I want in her room is a very neutral color palette. I would love gray walls with accents of coral and mint.
The nursery below is one of my favorites. It's so fresh and clean with gorgeous for pops.
I also want to incorporate a lot of textures through pillows and rugs. Especially for when she can start telling the difference between all the different feels. I die over this rug, but unfortunately it's way out of my price range. It's like $800.
We're really back and forth on her room right now. We decided not to paint her room because we'll be moving within 6 months of her being born. We're sticking with the tan color on her walls and as of now thinking of a meadow and fawn theme.
Guess we'll be saving the gray and pastels for her room in the new house.
But I am getting my crib so all is well.

First trimester tips

With my first trimester being far behind me, I thought I would share some tips and tricks that helped me through the harder first few months.

I do feel pretty blessed because so far I have had a super easy pregnancy. I only had morning sickness for about two weeks and then some not so great headaches off and on.

I'm sure it will be a different story as I roll through my third trimester which is only a few short weeks away.

Let's begin:

1. Sleep as much as you can. If you have horrible morning sickness or even if it's not unbearable, try to sleep through it. You'll be tired anyway.

2. Graze dont eat big meals. This will help keep your stomach and throat calm. Feeling to full automatically induces vomiting.

3. Slowly sip water don't chug. I learned this one the hard way. I figured water was a safety no matter what. Not was I wrong. If you such it down, you will throw it up. This one was hard for me because I love love love water.

4. Get up slowly. You get dizzy a lot easily. I already had a problem with dizzy spells and fainting. Because I have dealt with it my whole life, I feel as I'm an expert. I know when they are coming and how to handle it. Last thing you want is to fall and hurt yourself or your baby.

5. No steamy hot showers. These make u dizzy like no other.

6. Mountain dew as instant headache reliever. Because the list if medicine pregnant women are allowed is so sparse and with what's on the list is now iffy, I have chosen to not take anything. Unfortunately I started getting killer headaches around 12 weeks. I literally couldn't function. My mom suggested a shot of espresso. I hate coffee so that was out of the question. She said drink a mountain dew instead then. That I could do because I was a big pop drinker once. I hadn't had pop in nearly two years.
Warning: if you stopped drinking pop and then start again, it's possible to gain 6 pounds in one month. Try to stay on the wagon!

7. Padded bra! Your nipples are super sensitive. Turns out they hate the cold. It literally feels like someone is taking a lighter to your nips and burning the shit out of them.

Hopefully you mommas to be will find this list helpful.

Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Day! Today is a day of remembering those who have served to protect our freedom.  I want to thank every single military personnel for there service and also pray for those who never made it home. It's the biggest sacrifice of all.

Since Memorial Day is like a mini Fourth of July, it naturally comes with friends and family gathering together around a BBQ.

Our weekend was jammed pack full of friends, family, and a few BBQs. It ask started off Friday night we went and had a nice evening of relaxing with friends.

Saturday we went to a BBQ hosted by some great friends of ours. BBQ, cocktails, beer, strawberry-lemonade and alot of laughing.

Sunday we just chilled at home recuperating from the last two nights and then today went to a BBQ at my mother in laws.

It's safe to say I ate my weight in watermelon and cheese brats. I also got to use today as excuse to dress festively. Red, white, and blue butterfly tank, cut off shorts and blue nail polish. I was originally planning to use this shirt for Independence day, but I'm not so sure it will fit then.

I hope you all had a fantastic long weekend. I know I'm sad to see it go, but I'm very excited for the rest of the summer.

24 weeks

How far along: 24 weeks
Weight gain: total of 13 pounds gained so far. I'll know official weight gain next week after my doctors appointment.
Gender: Girl all the way
Maternity clothes: none yet. Squeezing into my size 4s and using a paper clip. A paper clip is actually allot better than the point tail trick.
Stretch marks: some on my boobs, but none on my belly. I'll proudly cry the day that happens.
Best moment this week: Memorial day weekend and spending a ton of time with friends and my husband. Plus she has gotten allot stronger with her kicking so it's amazing to feel her move so much.
Sleep: sleeping pretty well
Miss anything: I'm going to have to say tanning. Getting a tan is a lot harder when you can't just go to a bed.
Cravings: watermelon and lots of it. I die when I get a perfectly ripe one.
Labor signs: No. I can't wait till I say yes to this. How crazy will that be.
Symptoms: I don't have any. I've been so blessed this pregnancy. I'm sure it will be short lived the farther along I get.
Belly button in or out? Still in but its starting to bulge out.
Wedding rings on or off? On
Moody or happy most the time: happy!
Looking forward to? Next week is full of events. A doctor appointment, a wedding, and Casey and mines 3rd anniversary.

strawberry lemonade festiveness

I won't be able to partake in any drinking festivities this summer so I needed to find some fun recipes for tasty non alcoholic beverages.

First one being freshly squeezed and freshly picked (from the farmers market) strawberry lemonade.

You will need 4 large lemons. It's about 2 cups of lemon juice.
3/4 cup sugar
4 cups of water
As many diced up strawberries as you like. It really depends on your taste.

Mix all together and add ice. It's absolutely fabulous. It taste even better if you let it sit in the fridge for a few hours to let the fruit mix. You can also wipe some lemon around the rim and
dip in sugar. So festive!

Pink pink pink

Can I just say how much I am obsessed with this bag from freshly picked. They just released them and I desperately want it for Rylees diaper bag. It's deep, easily accessible and has pockets on the inside.

It comes in tons of color options and it's the perfect go to bag for everything.

What's better? It has matching moccasins! I die over the cuteness.

*I would like to add that I was not asked to write this post, I'm just expressing my own love for this bag.

Fair food

Being pregnant in the summer does have some advantages. For instance, it's fair season and little town fair like days.

My husband and I never miss a Maybee day. They have corn dogs and lemon shake ups, rides and crafts. It's just one day from 9-5. I look forward to this day every year. Fair food is just the best and you really can't duplicate it.

Unfortunately it didn't work out for us to make it to Maybee day this year and I was pretty upset about missing my first corn dog and lemon shake up of the season.

So I decided to make our own versions for dinner Monday night.

Corndog muffins and lemonade with a sugar rim and frosted glass.

They turned out delicious and it made up for missing Maybee day. Now I'm just not so patiently waiting for fair week which comes in August. You can believe I'll be stuffing my face with funnel cakes, fried Oreos, lemon shake ups, corndogs and whatever else I can find.

Nursery Planning

Now that we know were having a girl, we have been in nursery planning mode. I didn't want a typical "theme". I had an idea of what I wanted her nursery to look like and feel like in my mind already, but Casey wanted something more fun and playful. He said my idea was to adultish. I was originally thinking light gray with pastel pinks. A very modern and clean look. He shot that down real quick. So we decided to go with a fun, bright, meadow, fawn theme.

I want to personally make her felt ball mobile myself. You can get every color ball on Etsy for a good price.
What's not to love about this super adorable-not-so-affordable little fawn clock? I'll most likely be begging hubs to splurge on this one item.
The plan with these canisters is to put them on the shelf hubs will be building above the changing table. I'll need at least 2. One for binkys and one for all her headbands and bows.
The above crib skirt is being custom made from a lovely Etsy shop along with the bedding in the picture below. It is the center piece of her room, kind of what were basing everything off of.
I'm super obsessed with this bag. It will go on her changing table to hold her diapers, wipes and butt paste. I'm currently deciding between this one and a lovely lavender one with pockets on the sides. Not sure yet. Maybe both?
I'm in love with these sheets. Perfect fit for a meadow theme.
I'm obsessing over this garland for her room. This as well will be custom made, I'm going to add a little mint green in it. Should I? Shouldn't I? Decisions, decisions!
Keeping with her "theme", this print will also be hung on her wall. I think it ties the colors and meadow
I'll need a few of these baskets to hold her books, chew toys, other odds and ends.
Definitely a must have. Enough said.
This little fawn stuffing!? I die over the cuteness.
And this teather is so cute. It's one of Sophies relatives.
Last but not least, I love this hand drawn print of this cute little fawn. Need.

Her walls are already a horrible color of tan and cream so it matches the decor. We've been thinking of getting some dandelion decals for her walls if we can find one we love enough.
We still have allot of work to do, we need to sand and paint her dressers and buy her a crib amongst a million other things to do.

Mothers Day Happenings

Happy Mothers Day!! I hope you are all enjoying a nice relaxing day with your loved ones.

This is my first Mother's Day and next year I can't wait to celebrate it with my baby girl in hand. I wasn't expecting to do anything today because technically she isn't hear yet, but my husband had quite the surprise for me.

He sneakily went and bought the Origami  Owl pendent I wanted. What made it even more special was that he picked out the charms for the inside himself.

I don't know what was more special, the fact that he got me this beautiful gift or that he did it so secretly to surprise me.

I had the biggest grin on my face when he just gave me a kiss and wished me a Happy Mother's Day. That was enough for me that he remembered. The gift honestly made me cry I was so happy.

22 weeks

How Far Along: 22 weeks- 6 months :)
Weight Gain: 12 pounds
Gender: Girl!! :)
Maternity Clothes: no. I'll just stick with my maxi dresses, skirts, and tank tops. Clothes that will grow with me.
Stretch Marks: A few on my boobs, but my tummy is clear.
Belly Button In or Out: In, but not for long. It's almost flat.
Sleep: it's ok. I've heard not to sleep on your back while pregnant so it's been annoying trying to make sure I'm not doing that. Turns out if your comfortable then it's not a big deal so that helps out with the sleeping. Other than that my hips start to get sore so I'm constantly readjusting.
Best Moment This Week: It was my first Mother's Day and I wasn't expecting my husband to do anything or celebrate since she isn't here yet, but he got me this gorgeous necklace.
Worst Moment This Week: I got sun burnt on my chest really bad. Boo!
Miss Anything: Nope, I never did anything before pregnancy to really miss.
Movement: yes!! She is active regularly now. She is asleep most the day and then wakes up for an hour or so at 9pm. She is also up in the mornings around 10.
Cravings: Ice cream and fruit. Perfect combo for summer.
Looking Forward To: We have another ultrasound in June. Excited to see baby girl again. I can't wait to see how big she has gotten.
Happy or moody most the time: I'm always happy!
Wedding rings on or off: on
